Fourth grade created pumpkins in multiple ways. Students learned the difference between contour line drawings and gesture drawings. Students then looked at how to use oil pastels to color in a pumpkin.

First, second, and third graders had a great performance and did a wonderful job on their set design!
Third grade is busy creating waves for their music show. Students included their name and texture rubbings in crayon to do a watercolor resist technique.
Students created a converging line spider web background. Students added a model magic spider web. If finished early, students had time to build a spider that can climb up a string.
Inspired by the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, first grade students are creating a Wall of Fame for their music show. In each star students are including a symbol to represent the occupation they want to be when they grow up.
Below is a future famous builder: First grade students created notan designs thinking about positive and negative space for their jack-o'-lantern collage.

To celebrate our "One Book One School," the students and I created our Wishtree. First and second grade students folded and painted the leaves. The tree and background will transform as we read the book as a school. More posts to come with hanging wishes and more!
First grade students were inspired by Paul Cezanne's apple still life paintings. Students drew overlapping apples in their still life. Students focused on using more than one color to color their apples. Students also discovered how a light source can create both a highlight and shadow when shined on a 3-dimensional object. Kindergarten students learned which primary colors mix to create which secondary colors through coloring mixing with model magic. There were in awe at how the clay changed colors when mixed!
Although it is still Summer, students are preparing for a Fall tree installation! Students first folded and cut their leaf and then painted them beautiful colors with tempera cakes.
