Greenbrier's collaborative project this year is a fence weaving inspired by the book "A Nest for Celeste" by Henry Cole. We read excerpts of the book where it describes Celeste's weaving process when she creates her baskets. Each student created their own weft strip and choose a word to inspire their weft strip. These words are based on artistic intentions. When students were finished with their weft strip they wove it into the fence over...under...over...under Greenbrier Weaves Us Together
DISTRICT ART EVENT- Student attend workshops at SMS from 6-7:30 on October 2nd. Please pre-register by September 25th using the link. Registration is required: https://goo.gl/forms/TlEBi3wIFAsiayb33
Parents will stay for the first 20 minutes for a brief overview of the submission process. We hope our artistic gators can enjoy this great event! To familiarize students with the new drawing stations, they went on a scavenger hunt to learn where the supplies are located in the room. Students completed all tasks on their explore paper.
Fifth graders have begun designing our Art Game for the school year. The rest of the grades are excited to see the end result!
Our first day of art together students found out where they sit. We then reviewed our 2-Dimensional shapes. We had students create their shapes out of popsicles sticks under the document camera. We also did some team building with our art tables by reviewing some 3-Dimensional shapes. Each table had to work together to create a cube using modeling clay and popsicle sticks.
