After the assembly, I was curious how each student's superhero might look. I asked the students: What would the "superhero in you" look like? They needed to think through what super powers, characteristics, and accessories they would have.
At the all-school assembly, the students looked at the quote "Try your best. Stay True. Find the Superhero in You!" The students were asked to think about what that means and why this is important to keep in mind. With this quote, we want students to take pride in their uniqueness. I learned how to use the tellagami app at District 25's Tech Academy.
My name is Miss Nicole Koob and I am the new art teacher at Greenbrier Elementary School. I am a recent graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where I double majored in Art Education and Art History. My background includes courses dealing with education as well as finding my own creative style in the arts. My goal is to have students grasp a greater understanding of what art is and how it is truly an irreplaceable experience. I want to offer art as an outlet of expression to my students to help them gain a personal sense of accomplishment, ownership, and confidence while creating their work. I know that my teaching philosophy will be supported at Greenbrier because I am a former District 25 student and believe that District 25’s art program inspired my love for art and the desire to continue studying its history and impact on the world. I grew up in Arlington Heights and attended Dryden Elementary School, South Middle School, and Rolling Meadows High School. I also student taught at Dryden Elementary School and Thomas Middle School. I am looking forward to a great school year, and with each interaction I have with my students, my understanding and appreciation for art grows stronger. If you have any questions for me feel free to ask!
