The artist David Habben created paper collages using recycled paper. In remote learning today, fifth-grade students are creating a paper collage using an old newspaper, magazine, or grocery ad. |
Today marks the 50th year of celebrating Earth Day! The first Earth Day was officially celebrated on April 22, 1970, and every year the movement grows bigger and is more widely celebrated. In 1990, Earth Day was celebrated with more than 140 countries participating. Today, more than 180 countries and a billion people observe the special day. I was inspired by the April snowfall when I created my newspaper collage. I decided to twist the paper and make mine a bas-relief or a low-relief. Fifth grade students created bas-reliefs, using modeling clay, last year. Watch the video below and see if you know more about recycling than Melissa McCarthy!
