The artist Andy Goldsworthy creates Land Art by arranging natural objects. Andy Goldsworthy does not alter or destroy nature but, through his artistic arrangements, helps the viewer recognize the Earth’s natural beauty. In remote learning today, third-grade students are creating their own Land Art by finding natural materials and arranging them in an artistic way. They will take a photograph of their Land Art when finished! In this article, Andy Goldsworthy describes the importance of taking a photograph after he is done creating his Land Art. He knows, because of the weather and natural decay, his artwork will eventually alter in some way. |
For my Land Art, I chose to use grass clippings and flowers. After I mowed the lawn, I took my grass clippings and arranged them on the driveway. Unfortunately, in my backyard, I planted some flowers too early this season and from the April snowfalls and high winds some of my flowers fell off their stems. I used those in my composition as well.
