Before beginning our project, Kindergarten students did a symmetry activity. Students first took a couple shapes and put them up to the mirror. Students were excited to discover that the mirror reflected the shapes and created a new symmetrical shape. Students were then challenged to complete their symmetry after the mirror was taken away. Students created their symmetrical tree by first folding their blue paper in half. Students then painted green paint on one side of the fold. The students folded the paper and when they opened it up the wet paint transferred onto the other side of the fold to create their symmetrical evergreen tree. Students then added a white horizon line for their snow and created asymmetrical snowflakes and snow clumps on their evergreen tree.
